The Emigration to San Francisco during the fortnight between the 7th & 22nd May was 2732 of whom 8 only were females. It is surprising that the Good have not taken some steps against this fearful disparity in the sexes.
The Governor is asked whether he can suggest any measure for increasing the proportion of women in free Emigration.
It is a difficult question to deal with.
Such a large proportion of prostitution is always referred to.
